UNISON reportedly took a great deal of criticism from some of its branches over the deal reached and how it was handled. As a result, at a special conference held on 24 March 2015, motions were agreed to lodge an additional pay claim for 2015/16 with a settlement date of 1 April 2015. The conference also agreed to alter the union’s pay consultation processes to improve participation.
Whilst no formal plan of action has been announced one might assume further courses of industrial action may be in the pipeline. How this would work out prior to the forthcoming general election should be interesting to say the least. Which party is likely to support a campaign of disruption at this time?
