A bit déjà vu but here’s the latest on the 2016 – 2017 Local Government Pay Award.
A bit déjà vu but here’s the latest on the 2016 – 2017 Local Government Pay Award.
It’s so long ago since an offer was made to the unions (9/12/15) that you can be forgiven for forgetting there might even be a pay award! Well finally it has been agreed by majority. It is still the case that Unison and GMB have agreed but not Unite.
The “Final offer” never changed and remained a final offer (although I don’t think there was an initial offer).until verified earlier this week. Very much a case of “this is the one and only offer” (could be a Chesney Hawkes song !).
The Local Government Association reports that:
GMB members have voted to accept the offer.
Unison members have voted to accept the offer
Unite did not accept it.
In an unusual precedent the rise has been authorised and can now be implemented. Based on a majority decision (2 of the three unions), the new NJC scales are available for April 2016 and April 2017. It’s been a bit of a long haul but it is now final.
